NE1's Ultimate Student Guide: Nightlife in Newcastle
Looking for some of Newcastle's best student-friendly club nights? Read away...

Aside from some iconic landscapes, an above average number of Greggs shops and a certain celebrity duo called Ant & Dec – Newcastle prides itself on nightlife.
Our gorgeous city doesn’t slow down, with clubs and bars to suit every music taste… all without breaking the student budget! So whether you’re a know-it-all for indie, or think there’s nothing better than the beat of house music, there’s a place in the Toon for you.
Monday
Tropiloco @ ChachaBuchi, The Social Club & Howlers
From Balearic beats to high-energy hits, Tropiloco takes over this trio of Collingwood Street venues every Monday night – and there really is something for everyone here with six rooms of different genres in total.
Tuesday
Lovedough @ Tup Tup Palace
Tup Tup Palace is legendary in Newcastle's nightlife scene, but if it's R&B you're into you'll want to head there on Tuesday for Lovedough to dance the night away to the likes of Rhianna, Drake and Cardi-B.
Blur @ City Centre
Hot on the heels of their incredible debut last year, Blur is the perfect music mix. This year, they'll be taking over different venues in the city centre - the first of which being TheCUT - but rest assured that there'll be as much house party anthems and indie pop as you can stomach. With £5 tickets and great drink deals, what’s not to love?

Wednesday
Soho Sports Night @ Soho Rooms
Wednesday nights belong to the sports societies – and Soho! Running throughout the semester, they’re the perfect way to get the team together, whether you’ve won the big match of the season, or you’ve just finished training.
Playground Wednesdays @ Tup Tup Palace
Embracing all things wild and wacky, Playground Wednesdays are one of the biggest sports nights in Newcastle. Besides, after all your hard work on and off the pitch, you’ll deserve to cut loose a little on a Wednesday night!
Thursday
Skint @ The Points
Feeling the strain of the student budget? Not to worry, Skint at The Points has you covered. With £1 early bird tickets and £1 drinks, there’s no need to break the bank for a good night out on the Toon.
Jungle @ Tup Tup Palace
Meanwhile, over at Tup Tup Palace, things are getting wild as Jungle takes over the club. Resident DJs Cee and Abbs La will be on the decks spinning the very best high-energy R&B hits across Tup Tup, Loja and theCUT.

Friday
Dr Beat @ The Den
Built by students, for students, Dr Beat spins the decks at The Den – the ultimate prescription for Friday nights. Expect nine student DJs across two rooms of music, including everything from high energy disco hits, to garage classics.
Paradiso @ Tup Tup Palace
Whisking you away from the chill of winter in Newcastle to the sunny beats of R&B, hip-hop, Latino and reggaeton tunes, Paradiso is a guaranteed good time. Oh, and that’s not forgetting the fantastic drinks deals on offer too!
Saturday
Atomic @ TheCUT
Only a couple of years on since its initial launch, Atomic at TheCUT has become a firm staple of Newcastle nightlife. Indie disco is the priority here, so make sure you head on down if that's your jam.
Soho Saturdays @ Soho Rooms
With four floors of non-stop tunes, you’ll be hard pressed to find a genre you don’t like in Soho Rooms on a Saturday night. From disco and house, to R&B and cheesy sing-along hits, the ice will be well and truly thawed here with your new flatmates.

Sunday
Persistence @ Tup Tup Palace
Some people prefer to slow down on a Sunday… Newcastle’s nightlife takes it up a notch instead! Persistence has been at the heart of the city centre for the past twelve years, and this freshers season promises to be no exception, taking over Tup Tup with its house, groove, disco and rap classics.
Fancy something different?
The Dog & Parrot, Clayton Street West
This independent bar in the heart of Newcastle is a student staple for a reason. From stellar drinks deals to a delicious menu featuring the likes of burgers, wraps and loaded fries – it’s pretty hard not to love it.
The Hancock, Hancock Street
A stones throw from both Northumbria and Newcastle university campuses, you’ll find The Hancock. There’s a relaxed vibe here, but don’t let that put you off – when the sports on and the sun’s out, things get busy! Inside though, there’s plenty of pints to pick from, pool tables to enjoy, and some smashing offers too.
The WonderBar, The Gate
Whether you’re after food, drinks or entertainment – The WonderBar has pretty much everything you’ll need to get the party started. Think drink deals from Monday to Thursday, as well as £7.99 roast dinners all day on Sunday – you’ll be spoilt for choice!
Be At One, Westgate Road
The folks at Be At One know that studying is thirsty work, so they’re serving up delicious cocktails for just £6 each every day for students. It’s a pretty good study break, if you ask us.
So if you're into house or hip-hop, rock or rap, there's no shortage of night's out in Newcastle to enjoy - and every day of the week too! Need a hand with the more practical stuff? Don't forget to check out our guide to getting set up in the city too.
