It might’ve rained basically every day of 2026, but brighter skies are ahead thanks to this month’s line-up of incredible events.

There’ll be free-flowing Guinness down at Times Square when Paddy Fest comes back around, and plenty of creative serves across Newcastle Cocktail Week. Oh, and that’s not forgetting the return of the Harlem Globetrotters, shooting into town with their hundred years world tour, and… you know what? Keep reading, you’ll find out soon enough!

Newcastle Cocktail Week @ City Centre Venues

Raise a glass to some of the city's most beloved bars and revered restaurants, as Newcastle Cocktail Week returns this March! Wristbands for this year’s event start from just over a tenner, and unlocks discounted food and drink at over twenty city centre venues. Oh, and did we mention it includes signature cocktails for just £5 too? Yeah, we’ll cheers to that.

Paddy Fest @ Times Square

Paddy Fest is painting the Toon green once again, with an even bigger and better production for 2026. Think ice-cold Guinness and live music inside a massive (heated!) party marquee, and you’ll only be scraping the surface of all the craic this day-long bender has to offer. Grab your gang and your best green garb - this is one you’ll be talking about for the rest of the year!

TINA – The Tina Turner Musical @ Theatre Royal 

You’ll be dancing in the aisles this March, as Tina – The Tina Turner Musical takes to the Theatre Royal stage! This all-singing, all-dancing spectacle uses some of her most iconic hits to bring her story to life – from humble beginnings in Tennessee, to winning twelve Grammy awards. It’s set to be The Best, we’re sure.

Discovery Nights – Wonder Women @ Discovery Museum

The Discovery Museum are kickstarting the celebrations for International Womens Day with the next instalment of their ever-popular Discovery Nights. This time around, “Wonder Women” will be the focus of the after-hours event, with talks from the likes of author Ann Cleeves, historian Henrietta Heald and Laura Brown of Northern Powergrid. Plus, there’ll be a performance from the all-women drumming group The Bangshees, Proggy mat making with Liz from Woodhorn Museum and a book swap for any bibliophiles attending.

Foil, Arms & Hog – Skittish @ Tyne Theatre & Opera House 

Comedy trio Foil, Arms & Hog make a welcome return to Newcastle with their new show, Skittish. Expect sketch comedy, audience participation and improvisation that’ll keep you laughing throughout the night. And hey, if Mr. Bean is counted amongst their fans, then their comedy chops certainly must be up to scratch!

Scouting for Girls @ O2 City Hall 

This year, Scouting for Girls are celebrating the fifteenth anniversary of their album Everybody Wants to be on TV, and they’re bringing the party to Newcastle! Expect all the fan favourites and deep cuts you can stomach, from Posh Girls to She’s so Lovely. We’ll Raise a Glass to that.

Harlem Globetrotters: 100 Years World Tour @ Utilita Arena

Also celebrating a milestone anniversary this March are the legendary Harlem Globetrotters. Their once-in-a-century tour takes over the Utilita Arena this March, with plenty of over-the-top fun, jaw-dropping surprises and awe-inspiring action. Basketball brilliance doesn’t get much better than this.

Kung Fu’d Food Battle @ Wylam Brewery

Wylam Brewery’s legendary food battles add another competition to their roster this month, with the debut of Kung Fu’d. Expect fresh challengers taking on this celebration of pan Asian street food, dishing up everything from bao and sushi to Chinese food and ramen. And that’s not forgetting that there’ll be vegan, veggie and gluten-free options on offer too, for any food lovers looking for ‘em!

Noughts & Crosses @ Northern Stage

Malorie Blackman’s gripping novel is brought to life on Northern Stage this month, thanks to Sabrina Mahfouz. Following the forbidden love between characters Sephy and Callum, the modern-day Romeo and Juliet adaptation has been highly praised, earning a place as a finalist for Best Show for Children and Young People at the UK Theatre Awards. All in all, it’s set to be a powerful production that you won’t want to miss.

Festival of the Girl @ Newcastle University

Newcastle University is also helping to bring the International Women’s Day celebrations to Toon with Festival of the Girl! Designed for girls aged 7-11, this day-long event challenges harmful stereotypes, helping to give them the confidence to explore who they really are, and what they want to do. With workshops, interactive activities and talks to enjoy, it’s set to spark plenty of imaginations!
