Whether you’re a seasoned gardener who knows their stuff – or you can’t tell celeriac and celery apart, Newcastle Allotment & Garden Festival is encouraging everyone to get growing this September.

This free festival is bringing its celebration of the city’s allotments and parks to Exhibition Park on Sunday 14th September and - as always - we’ve got all the details for this fantastic event, so you can concentrate on finding the perfect inspiration for your garden…

What is Newcastle Allotment & Garden Festival?

The Newcastle Allotment and Garden Festival – organised by NewcastleParks in partnership with Urban Park Market – is a free one-day festival that brings together food and drink, talks and workshops, live music, family activities, wellbeing sessions and much more. Highlighting how local communities can improve their health and wellbeing and the areas where they live by getting involved in gardening, growing and horticulture, the festival also promotes the importance of sustainability in protecting the environment.

When is Newcastle Allotment & Garden Festival happening?

The festival takes place from 11am-4pm on Sunday 14th September.

The festival will take place in the heart of Newcastle in one of the city’s most popular parks; Exhibition Park.

What should I expect to find at Newcastle Allotment & Garden Festival? 

There’s loads going on this year and for all ages too, so there’s no reason not to get the whole family involved!

There are talks and workshops for those wanting to learn more about growing and sustainability, plus wellbeing sessions and a new creative wellbeing area supported by Newcastle Hospitals Charity.

There'll be family-friendly activities, live music and Urban Park Market will be serving up refreshments and bringing together produce from the region's finest makers, food traders and producers for you to try.

Whether you’re on the lookout for tips for getting growing yourself, fancy some crafty fun or just want to get some good grub, there’s something for everyone. Activities and entertainment throughout the day is catered to all ages making the event the perfect opportunity for a family day out.
