We continue our rundown of the 2024 Newcastle festival scene with a look at Lost Minds Festival, which occupies the Saturday slot of May Day Bank Holiday weekend, sandwiched between the two days of In The Park Festival.

Our guide tells you everything you need to know in advance of this dance music extravaganza, from the top-class acts performing to how to get those tickets booked.

What is Lost Minds Festival?

Lost Minds Festival is a big-name, big production dance festival happening in the heart of the city and hosted in collaboration with clubbing legends Cream and Kiddstock. It’s the third Lost Minds event in Newcastle - following two sell-out years - and promises the very best electronic music acts across its four stages, with each focussing on a particular flavour of dance: Cream Trance, the Open Air Stage, Hard Top and the KS Bunker.

Where is it happening?

Lost Minds is happening in the city-centre green oasis of Leazes Park, right next to St James’ Park.

When is it happening?

The festival takes place on Saturday 4th May, running from 12pm to 11pm (with last entry at 7pm).

Which acts are playing?

Very excitingly, the festival is being headlined by Ben Hemsley, the local DJ / artist with a reputation for show-stopping old school rave flavours so it’s a big day for dance fans in the city. Also appearing is chart regular Example, who’s bound to offer up a big helping of vocal house bangers. Dutch legend Ferry Corsten is always a must-see, and there’s all manner of other acts like Will Sparks, Alan Fitzpatrick, Miss K8 and many more. Check out the full line-up here.

Is there an age limit?

You need to be 18 to attend the festival, and there will be a Challenge 25 policy at the gates and all the bars.

Will there be food and drink?

There will be plenty of food stalls offering a wide range of cuisines, as well as well-stocked bars (taking cash and cards). There’ll be festival stalls, photobooths, a secret garden, art installations and even some fairground rides.

How much are tickets and how do I book?

Ticket are available to book via Skiddle and Ticketmaster and standard entry costs £65 (these have nearly sold out so move fast!), but there are options to combine Lost Minds tickets with either or both days of In The Park Festival on Friday and Sunday.

Is there an after-party?

The official Lost Minds after-party takes place at World HQ, running from 10.30pm to 4am, with Miss K8, Shugz, Jordan Baldwin and more appearing across the two rooms. You don’t need to have gone to the Lost Minds festival to attend and tickets are available separately for £16.95.

Lost Minds Festival is becoming a firm fixture in the city’s festival calendar, an absolute must for fans of all forms of dance music, whether you like it hard and bassy or housey and uplifting. Tickets are flying out for this year’s edition, so swing by the Lost Minds website so you don’t miss out!
