The gap between the merriment of Christmas and the end of the year means different things to different people.

For some it’s a chance to settle in front of the TV catching up on the big shows, for others it’s just another working week. And for some it’s a chance to keep the party going!

We’ve selected some of the most fun things happening in Newcastle this Twixmas for those of you who want to wring some more fun out of 2025.

Moosenwirt @ Grey Street

This hugely popular pop-up Alpine bar will remain in place until 1st January so Twixmas is a perfect chance to visit this warm and cosy feature in the heart of the city. Moosenwirt is a humongous yurt with a log wood bar, fire pits and private igloo domes or the Elk Lodge for private gatherings. There’s live music every day, dogs and kids are welcome, and there’s a fine selection of beers, wines, festive specials and hot drinks

Until Thursday 1st January 2026, Free

Bongo’s Bingo: Bingo All The Way @ Boiler Shop

The bingo-based mayhem of Bongo’s Bingo is almost a permanent fixture at the Boiler Shop these days – people clearly can’t get enough dabber action! – and of course there’s a festive version. Expect silliness, games, prizes and some bingo!

Saturday 27th, Sunday 28th & Wednesday 31st December 2025, From £23

Christmas Rocks @ O2 City Hall

This four-day festival of rocking tribute bands has been going for over 15 years now, so they’re clearly doing something very right! Spread across four days you’ll get to see some of the UK’s premier tribute bands, from AC/DC GB and Fleeting Rumours to Green Days and Paramore UK! Not to be missed if you’re a fan of classic rock and all your favourite bands have split up!

Saturday 27th – Tuesday 30th December 2025, From £29.90

Boxing Day Lunch @ The Vermont Hotel

One of a run of special events at the Vermont this Christmas, the Boxing Day Lunch looks like a real treat, especially if Christmas Day put you off cooking (and washing up!) for good. Sit back in the luxury of The Maven restaurant and have all the hard work done for you as you tuck into a spectacular three-course lunch with friends or family - from starters like tomato and roasted red pepper soup or chicken liver parfait, through mains like crispy belly pork, nut roast or roasted salmon fillet, and finishing with some splendid desserts like Christmas pudding and a cranberry and Amaretto brulee. And not a messy kitchen in sight!

Friday 26th December, From £32.95 (adults) / £20 (children under 10) / £14.95 (children under 3)

New Year Specials @ The Stand

The Stand has a whole host of side-splitting New Year Specials on to enjoy after Christmas. Matt Reed will be hosting with Nicola Mantalios, Gareth Mutch, Al Stevenson, Kelly Rickard and headliner Jo Caulfield keeping you entertained throughout the evening, and Bryan Does Food will be dishing up tacos, burgers and hot dogs beforehand too.

Northern Lights Northern Lights

Northern Lights @ Leazes Park

After a successful second year in 2024, Northern Lights has returned to Leazes Park with another riot of light and colour. Forming a circular trail through one of the city’s finest parks, it's a series of illuminated audio-visual installations set to dazzle visitors once again. All this plus a Christmas Village with some of the city’s most popular street food vans selling tasty eats so you can make a magical evening of it.

Until Wednesday 31st December 2025, From £15 (adults/16 and over) / £5 (children 3-16 years) / Free (children 2 and under) / £37.50 (family ticket)

The Club Present.... Get Down Tonight @ Wylam Brewery

Wylam Brewery is celebrating all things disco this Twixmas, as The Club Present… Get Down Tonight! This beloved Newcastle venue will be transformed into a full-on nightclub experience with incredible sound and lights. Everything kicks off around 7pm and it’ll all wrap up by 11pm, so you’ll be home in time to put your feet up with a cuppa too.

80s Soul Selection Box @ Pilgrim

But if soul music is more your thing, then head to Pilgrim on Boxing Day for the music venue's 80s Soul Selection Box. Entry is free and guests can expect a soulful session of DJs, drinks and dancing - what better way to spend the Boxing Day bank holiday?

Exhibition on Screen: Caravaggio @ Tyneside Cinema

Culture vultures can also get their kicks during these weird and wonderful few days, as Tyneside Cinema plays the latest edition of Exhibition on Screen. Caravaggio is the focus this time around, and it’s said to be the most extensive film made about the artist, having spent five years in production.

Monday 29th December 2025, Prices vary

Ministry of Bounce @ Digital

Kick off Twixmas right with the Ministry of Bounce at Digital on Boxing Day! There'll be a stellar line-up of DJs to enjoy - including Ministry of Bounce's resident DJs - so make sure you've got those tickets booked.

Friday 26th December 2025, From £22.40

Of course, you might decide to spend next week in a turkey and Baileys coma on the sofa but if you’ve still got a yearning for some fun, we’re sure some of our suggestions will hit the spot!
