With National Cheesecake Day (yes, it’s really a thing!) landing on the 30th July this year, we thought there was no better time to take you on a tour through the best places to get your cheesecake fix in Newcastle!

Regardless of whether your favourite flavour is Basque or Biscoff, these exquisite eateries will have a cheesecake to charm you - through National Cheesecake Day and beyond...

Heavenly Desserts, Newgate Street

With a name like Heavenly Desserts, it’s no surprise that their four variations of cheesecake-y goodness are all angelic! Whether the Lotus Biscoff and white chocolate recipe has you drooling, or you’d prefer the more classical burnt Basque cheesecake (topped with fresh berries and warm milk chocolate), anyone with a sweet tooth is guaranteed to leave here satisfied. They even do strawberry cheesecake mochi if you fancy shaking things up a bit!

TSUJIRI Newcastle, St. Andrew’s Street

TSUJIRI’s bread and butter might be matcha, but their Japanese-inspired cheesecake concoctions are certainly worth the visit too. Check out their Instagram for a taste of their previous offerings, including the likes of black sesame burnt Basque, matcha Basque, and yuzu cheesecake.

Creams Café, Grainger Street

Grainger Street staple Creams Café boasts a huge menu of delicious delicacies – so of course there’s plenty of cheesecakes you’ll want to get a slice of. You can check out their full range of cakes and pastries here, but if you need us in the meantime, we’ll be digging into some of their cheerful lemon meringue cheesecake…

St. Vincent St. Vincent

St. Vincent, Broad Chare

For all-out cheesecake luxury, look no further than fine dining hotspot and 21 Group favourite St. Vincent. Their talented chefs regularly whip up a classic San Sebastian-style burnt Basque cheesecake that’s an absolute delight to the taste buds, and if you’re hosting a fancy meal yourself (or just really, really love cheesecake) you can order a whole one to collect and take home via the 21 at Home website!

Sweet Dreams Dessert Café, St. Andrew’s Street

Those with a sweet tooth will certainly think they’re dreaming when they get a glimpse of Sweet Dreams Dessert Café’s cheesecake list! They’ve got cheesecake flavours to suit every palate – from double chocolate to a classic New York vanilla cheesecake – but we’ve got our eyes on their Ferrero Rocher number. Heaven on a plate or what?

Yum Yum, Cross Street

They might be better known for their hearty smash burgers, but don’t miss out on Yum Yum’s delicious desserts either! They dish up everything from waffles and croffles to doughnuts and churros and, of course, plenty of cheesecake varieties too – in flavours like strawberry and Terry’s Chocolate Orange.

Olive & Bean Olive & Bean

Olive & Bean, Clayton Street

Beloved Newcastle venue Olive & Bean is all about freshly baked indulgences, so while they’re might not always be cheesecake in the counter, you’ll certainly be in for a treat when there is! Who knows, you could be digging into some Biscoff, or raspberry and white chocolate cheesecake very soon.

Kaspa’s, Clayton Street

Kaspa’s are big on delicious desserts of every shape and size, including four delicious cheesecake varieties. Calling out to us in particular though is their Bueno Basque cheesecake layered with choco-nut spread and drizzled with choco-hazelnut sauce - yum!

Pink Lane Bakery, Pink Lane

And how could we chat cheesecakes without mentioning Pink Lane Bakery! This indie gem in the city centre boasts a brilliant, classic New York-style baked cheesecake that you’ll want to get your hands on – but of course there’s plenty of other sweet snacks to enjoy if your pals aren’t fellow cheesecake fanatics.

Well, our stomachs are definitely rumbling now. We’re off to go do some, *ahem* market research…
