NE1 NEWCASTLE RESTAURANT WEEK
Food-lovers, we've got just the treat for you this summer! NE1 Newcastle Restaurant Week is back in August and we've got plenty for you to tuck in to! With over 100 restaurants involved, it's the biggest culinary event of the summer season and a great opportunity to sample some of the city's finest and best-loved eating establishments. You know the drill... for only £10 or £15pp, city diners will get the chance to book in for a fine feast at one of our longstanding favourites, or can try something completely new. It really is a food-lovers' paradise! Dates will be announced soon - stay tuned online!
SCREEN ON THE GREEN
Get your summer cinema fix in the city as NE1's Screen on the Green returns with another packed-out schedule of smash-hit screenings. Newcastle’s outdoor cinema screenings are a great place to hang out with friends, entertain the kids and catch some straight-off-the-big-screen movies! So pull up one of our bright blue deckchairs, bring a bag of popcorn and chill out on the green this summer.
QUAY TO CITY AT NEWCASTLE CITY MARINA
Our Newcastle City Marina gang has teamed up with River Escapes this summer to bring a spectacular sightseeing cruise, departing from our Marina (near the Tyne Bridge). We can’t think of a better way to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. Sit back, relax and sail across the Tyne, taking in some of our city’s most iconic landmarks and bridges as you go. The one-hour Quay to City cruise promises panoramic views of Newcastle, complimented by a recorded commentary from one of River Escapes’ most experienced cultural commentators. Refreshments including alcohol, soft drinks, crisps and chocolate bars are available to purchase throughout the journey.
QUAYSIDE SEASIDE
There’s no need to swarm to the coast this season. You can get your beach fix here in NE1 with the return of the Quayside Seaside, in-situ on the Costa del Tyne! Our pop-up beach means you can go from the office to a palm tree-lined, sandy paradise in no time! Sponsored by Northumbrian Water, this tropical spot boasting a beautiful position on the River Tyne, is a great place to sink your toes, rest your legs and soak up the summer sunshine! Stay tuned on the NE1 Get into Newcastle website for our programme of action-packed events for the whole family to get involved in throughout the sunny season. Pack up a picnic, pop on your flip-flops and put your feet up on our Quayside Seaside this summer!
NEWCASTLE PRIDE 2019
The most colourful event in the summer social calendar is back from 19 - 21 July 2019! Vibrant acts, exciting activities and events descend on the city for a weekend of pure festivities, all in support of LGBTQ+ culture. Hosted by Newcastle’s Queen of Comedy, Miss Rory, Pride party-goers can expect to see the likes of Fleur East, Liberty X, Janice Robinson and Michael Rice, as they take to the Manchester Airport Los Angeles stage on the Town Moor. Exhibition Park joins the festival this year to become the Community Village - home to a family and youth zone, wellbeing zone, rainbow village and some very exciting stalls. Fancy being part of the Pride celebrations in our city this year? Don your brightest rainbow attire and pop this fun-packed Pride event in your diaries this summer!
IF THAT'S NOT ENOUGH...
What a summer line-up! If our schedule of super screenings, seaside escapades, foodie deals, and Pride parties isn't enough to keep you entertined throughout the sunshine months, don't forget that NE1 will be hosting their Bigg Foodie Friday markets on the last Friday of the month from May to September. What's more? We've got a professional cycle race hitting the streets of NE1 in July and we've got our beautiful Grey Street Gathering for folks to rest their legs and watch the world go by!
