As the nights get lighter and the days get warmer, there’s no need to swarm to the coast for your beach fix... because the NE1 Quayside Seaside is back!

Pack up a picnic, pop on your flip-flops and holiday on the Costa del Tyne this summer as the Thomas Cook Airlines Quayside Seaside returns for the seventh year running! The date for your diary is Friday 16th March – the start of another sunshine season to remember in NE1.

It’s hard to remember a summer without our city beach. It’s back and it’s better than ever before this year with sand to sink your toes into, deck chairs to chill out on and everything else you’d expect to see at the seaside. We’ve even got palm trees blowing in the breeze!

Although we can’t guarantee bright blue sunshine throughout the summer season, we can guarantee good fun on our pop up beach with events and activities for all the family to enjoy.

Grab some lunch, treat yourself to an ice cream and simply enjoy the delights of the Quayside as you unwind in the sunniest spot in town. It’s a great day out for the whole family. You can stroll, shop and see the city sights before soaking up the sun on our blissful beach – what more could you want? And if the gift of a good old bucket and spade doesn’t do the trick with your little ones, we’ve got a brand new children’s play areato keep them entertained.

Foodies looking to hit the beach can look forward to the new resident restaurant, Little Fishy. Fish and chips and fish finger sandwiches are a speciality along with cajun cod and halloumi fries, which earned the restaurant a place in the finals of The National Fish and Chip awards 2017.

Whether you’re whiling away an afternoon in the sun, lunching it up al fresco or entertaining the kids, the Quayside Seaside is a fantastic addition to our city’s summertime events calendar and we can’t wait to share it with the people of NE1!
