What’s New Year’s Eve without a glittering midnight countdown? NE1 has teamed up with NewcastleGateshead Initiative to bring back the Quayside Midnight Fireworks as we bring 2019 in with a bang! Metro Radio’s Night Owls will be down on the Quayside at the stroke of midnight to herald in the New Year in spectacular style as thousands gather for this free and un-ticketed event.

NEW YEAR’S EVE FIREWORKS
See the city sparkle after dark as we celebrate 2018 and bring in the New Year! This free, family-friendly firework extravaganza will light up the sky at 6pm outside Newcastle Civic Centre – with a dazzling 15-minute spectacle, set to a specially-commissioned soundtrack. Heart North East presenter, Tom Campbell, will be on hand, entertaining the crowds from 5.30pm, in the run up to the big celebration! If that’s not enough... there’ll be plenty of entertainment filling up the streets throughout the afternoon - with street theatre, live music and a buzzing city centre!

NEW YEAR’S EVE: THE DIVINE COMEDY
Party at Sage Gateshead this Monday night as we see in 2019 in style! There’s an action-packed evening of entertainment going down at the Alphabetti Theatre - and we can’t think of a better way to celebrate the New Year whilst getting your culture fix! With a headline performance from Velvoir, this party night will be hosted by Bonnie and the Bonnettes, with live music on the piano from Rob Griffiths and George Lewis.
