6 Great Places to Have Brunch in Newcastle

Last updated:

From boozy shindigs filled with mimosas and bubbles to comfort food in the form of runny eggs benny, we've rounded up some of the best brunch spots here in Newcastle…

REVOLUCIÓN DE CUBA

Diners will struggle to choose just one of the enticing cooked brunches on offer at this cheery Cuban eatery. Nestled among the hustle and bustle of the Cloth Market, this vibrant hangout knows a thing or two when it comes to firing out high-quality dishes with a delightful South American twist. There are strawberry daiquiris, breakfast burritos bursting at the seams with smoky sausage, opulent Disaronno-fizzes to sample and there’s a Cubano benedict ready to change your life. A vibrant atmosphere and a super-soulful soundtrack make it far too easy to spend all day here.

THE BOTANIST

A place where trinkets hang from the walls, laidback music soothes and bold brunch flavours come to life, The Botanist, just over the road from Grey's Monument, is one of the Toon’s most-glamourous spots when it comes to living it up at the weekend. Having introduced a revamped menu earlier in the summer, this splendid restaurant is the place to visit if you’re keen on sampling a humongous breakfast burger, a haddock omelette topped with creamy mushrooms or the show-stopping croque-monsieur that features hand-carved ham, runny Gruyère cheese, a fried egg and a dollop of tomato jam for good measure. Pair your choice with a Botanist bellini, sample a pink grapefruit and peach sangria or wash it all down with an opulent Lapsang Souchong Cayenne Bloody Mary and you’re onto a winner.

GINO D’ACAMPO

Whether it is the taste of squeezed juices, the smell of freshly-baked Italian artisan breads or the aroma of rich Italian espresso, the little brunch details speak volumes at Gino D’Acampo on the Quayside. Gino’s salute to brunch is a bottomless weekend offer that pulls together top-shelf tradizionale treats such as veggie brekkies, Italian roast ham frittata and smoked salmon Highland scrambled eggs. Alternatively, plump for avocado and toast that’s been littered with chilli flakes or a beautiful breakfast roll with tender bacon and wilted spinach. Simply lush!
