Children go free: Life Science Centre

Families can take advantage of free child admission* to the Science Centre for the whole of October half term.

Life has a frightfully good programme of events this October half term. For those who are feeling brave, there are thrills and chills on the 4D Motion Ride**, which will be showing Catacombs 4D, complete with special effects such as smoke, wind and water. There’s extra Halloween fun over the half term weekend too (29 and 30 October), with the chance to get crafty and make paper Halloween lanterns in Life’s Making Space; guaranteed to last longer than the average pumpkin! 

Visitors can grab a seat in the Science Theatre to find out more about the strangest, creepiest and crawliest creatures in Weird Nature, with live science demos from Life’s expert Science Explainers, and there’s also a chance to explore the deepest regions of space in the planetarium with new show Edge of Darkness.

Access to blockbuster exhibition ANIMAL INSIDE OUT is included, featuring over 100 real animal specimens that have been preserved through the cutting-edge method of plastination. See what lies beneath the skin of some on nature’s most incredible creatures, with highlights including a full-size elephant, giraffe and gorilla.

From Monday 24 October until Friday 28 October, Life Science Centre will also be open an hour earlier than usual - from 9.00am – 6.00pm - allowing visitors to cram in as much eerie excitement as possible.  All of these activities are included in the admission price to Life.
