You’d Batter Believe It! You Can Now Buy Classic Fish and Chips, in a Burger!

As a nation fuelled by debating football, weather and shades of tea, there seems to be one thing we all agree on, and that is a quality Chippy Tea! But what happens when the National treasure of takeaways meets reigning kings of the burger world, Fat Hippo? Introducing the fusion-cuisine of the year, a proper Chippy Tea - burger!

Not shy of pushing burger boundaries, patty perfectionists Fat Hippo, known for their quirky flavour combos, with the likes of their viral trending Kelloggs’ Crunchy Nut Chicken Strips, and their infamous ‘Big Doh’ pink doughnut burger, comes another daring display of culinary coalition. Famed for not simply flipping burgers, they've flipped the whole script on the humble fish and chip and catapulted it to further gastronomic greatness - in a bun!

Get ready for the Catch of the Month this Easter, with the Chip Shop Hooray! What was once wrapped in newspaper, you’ll now find nestled within sturdy brioche; classic beer battered cod, generously topped with ‘mashy’ minted peas, homemade tartare sauce, chipotle ketchup and of course, what chippy offering is complete without salt ‘n’ vinegar batter scraps.

Paired alongside another chip-shop classic, Chippy Chips, which serves up a decision that will split the nation, curry sauce or gravy? Offering a free side as always, this time a hearty portion of their signature hand-cut chips (fresh from their dedicated field in Northumberland) loaded with salt ‘n’ vinegar batter scraps and your choice of chip-shop style curry sauce or gravy.

Often considered as Britain's unofficial national dish, fish and chips have long been established as a cherished household favourite, so highly thought of, that they were honoured with being one of the few foods in the UK not subject to rationing during the war. And sure, chip-shops have been around since, well, forever, but Fat Hippo aren’t interested in resting on tradition.

Fat Hippo Operations Director, Michael Johnson said; “Our BurgerLab thrive off a challenge, so when we set out to create something completely different to our current menu offering, nothing was off the table. After exploring the latest flavours, ingredient trends - and a few local chippies! - with an old-school hip hop playlist soundtracking, the Chip Shop Hooray was born. We’re really proud of this one!

Read all about it! Limited numbers of this tray of the day, Chip Shop Hooray and Chippy Chips will be available from March 28th ‘til April 28th, exclusively at all 17 Fat Hippo locations for dine-in as well as on Just Eat, UberEats and Deliveroo and on their in-house Click + Collect service.
