The Great Market Caper Is Bringing Back That Feelgood Factor This February

Spring may still seem a bit of a way off, but as Blue Monday and Dry January fade into distant memory, the feelgood factor is definitely returning to Newcastle as the first Great Market Caper of 2023 kicks off on Saturday February 4th.
With a packed programme for the night, things get going with comedy in Alley 2 from 7pm to 8.30pm. Hosted by Sammy Dobson, and with John Scott, Andy Fury, and John Gibson providing the comedy, we’ll be getting in the mood for the rest of the evening’s fun with some proper belly laughs.
And if that mood extends to shopping for some unique pieces, there will be a great selection of vintage traders, organised in association with polymaths NE Rising, selling clothing, shoes, jewelry, and accessories in Alley 2.
Live music on the night comes from the amazing BBC Introducing-tipped Frankie Jobling, the returning-by-popular-demand blues artists The King Bees, and an acoustic set from Hassle, the critically acclaimed local reggae duo. They will be playing three sets in Alley 3 between 8.45pm and midnight.
And while you’re in Alley 3, if you’re one of the many Caperers who can’t resist showing off their best moves when the music starts, you’ll be in the right place: Melissa Davy, our fantastic dance instructor will be teaching all-comers to dance the blues in two free sessions between sets.
Meanwhile all evening in Alley 1, resident DJs Multiminded Music will be playing all the best floor fillers and anthems through the decades. With dancers cheering every new tune, fantastic food from all around the world, and great bars in all the Alleys, there really is something for everyone.
“There’s always so much going on at every Caper, people can’t believe it’s all there at the same time under one roof," says organiser Sean Bullick. “So, banish any lingering winter blues, get yourselves along to the Caper, and get that feelgood factor back on a fantastic night out. “And” he adds, “even better this time, we’ve slightly changed the running order to make sure there’s as little overlap as possible between activities so no one misses out on any of the brilliant entertainment on offer”.
The Caper is a 16+ event. Tickets are £10 in advance and are available at www.thecaper.co.uk Alternatively, they are £15 on the door. For more programme and vendor details go to The Great Market Caper website.
