The Great intu Eldon Square Cake Off
intu Eldon Square is calling on amateur bakers to enter a cookery competition as part of the Great Taste cookery road show arriving in centre on 13 & 14 September.
Shoppers at the city centre shopping destination have been invited to showcase their culinary prowess by submitting pictures of their best baking efforts, and the top five will make it through to the Cake-Off event, to be judged on look, taste and quality of crumb.
The judges, led by senior chef at John Lewis, Lee Williams (who has cooked for the Queen) also include Capital FM & Heart radio news reader Anna Harding, a keen amateur baker, and former Master Chef finalist David Hall, from East Boldon .
The winning cake maker will receive a £100 intu Eldon Square gift card, plus the opportunity to have their cake on the afternoon tea menu at John Lewis, intu Eldon Square, as well as enjoying a champagne afternoon tea to celebrate.
Anna Harding said: “I am having so much fun preparing for the Great Taste road show, and really looking forward to the Cake Off on Sunday 14th September. I’m sure the standard will be exceptionally high as there are so many incredibly enthusiastic bakers here in the North East. I’m also joining forces with former Master Chef finalist David Hall to deliver a cup cake decorating workshop for children on the Saturday 13th, so it’s going to be a busy week end!”
