THE CHRISTMAS MARKET RETURNS FULL OF FESTIVE CHEER

Christmas is coming and that means just one thing - the fabulous International Christmas Market is on the way once again to Newcastle. Market Place, the organisers of the Market are thrilled to once again be bringing the International Christmas Market back to Newcastle this year. Almost as important a part of the Festive season to many as the big guy in the red suit, this year the International Christmas Market will take place between Monday 18^th November and Saturday 30th November and will take place as usual around Grey’s Monument and sections of Grey Street. The festive Market injects a blaze of International colour to the city’s seasonal retail experience and this year will be no different with over 30 traders from 18 countries across the world being in attendance. Traders from as far afield as Spain, Italy, France, Holland, Germany, Russia, Poland, Iran, Thailand, Spain and China, will congregate around the Grey’s Monument area. Come along and listen to all the different languages being spoken, sample the great range of foods on offer and look out for that special present that you can’t find anywhere else.  Why not try the Bigos (a Polish stew), the crepes from France, the paella from Spain, the mouthwatering array of chocolate cakes and biscuits from the Italian biscotterie or the wonderful cakes and pastries from our French patisserie.  If it’s a present you are looking for we can offer you the very latest style in scarves and ties from Italy, genuine Russian dolls, a huge fantastic Dutch flower garden and a wide range of jewellery all at very affordable prices. Now in its 9th year, the Christmas International Market has become an essential Festive fixture, not only with Newcastle shoppers but also for tourists and visitors to the city from far and wide. We are delighted to be able to offer schools the unique opportunity to take part in an educational tour of the festive market this year. The guided tours of the market will both educate and entertain the children as they learn more about language, food and culture, from across the globe and the best part is they are FREE. The key objective of the tours is to ignite children’s imaginations and stimulate their minds for a more proactive approach towards academic study. Schools are required to book in advance to guarantee a tour slot. Schools are responsible for organising transportation to and from the market, with each tour lasting between 45-60 minutes. Ten to twelve children per group are recommended for each tour, however we are happy to accommodate up to twenty pupils if you require. Tours run daily from 10am-2pm and are guided by our very own market manager, pupils must however be supervised by the appropriate number of school representatives.
