The Botanist to host All-day Beer Festival on the 1st of July

It's all about beer this weekend at The Botanist as the Monument Mall bar prepares for an all-day beer festival on Saturday 01 July.

Whether joining the festival fun early from 12noon or as a post-races after party following Plate Day, attendees can enjoy The Botanist’s growing collection of beers, ciders and ales, taste samples, join in with games and improve their knowledge of brews during ale tasting masterclasses.

Limited edition beers will be available throughout the day, including award-winning refreshments from Tiny Rebel, and guest brands including craft and speciality beers supplier Cave Direct who will be offering samples, giving beer fans the chance to try a range of both classic and new tastes.

Games and entertainment will form part of the occasion with free beers up for grabs with beer bottle hoopla to join in with. Additionally ale tasting masterclasses for groups will be running – a lesson in getting to know the basics like telling the difference between maize and barley, and tasting and discussing a choice of up to eight different beers and ales with the bar’s masters of beer.

Cocktail drinkers will also be catered for, as The Botanist has just launched a new menu taking inspiration from phytology, the science of plants. Exciting features include atomisers with floral aromas which add an immersive experience to drinks, as well as a variety of drinks served in plant pots complete with an enchanting dry ice effect.

Food will be served in the restaurant all day – ideal for those looking to refuel after a day out at the races.

Andrew Shiel-Redfern, general manager at The Botanist, said: “We’re looking forward to our first beer festival to celebrate the great collection of beers, ales and ciders which form our Anthology of Ales.

“We’re proud to offer brews from all corners of the world which people will have the chance to sample on the day, as well as meet their favourite brands and brewers, and brush up on their knowledge at our ale tasting masterclasses."

The Botanist recently introduced 22 new tipples to its Anthology of Ales – similar to a traveller’s diary, telling the intriguing story of the world of beer, cider and ale served across all New World Trading Company establishments.

With 65 of the best drinkable creations from around the world, the hand-crafted anthology has been lovingly created by its very own beer guru.

The beer festival will take place from 12noon until close and is free to attend. For further information on The Botanist Newcastle call 0191 261 6307 or email [email protected]
