That's the Spirit

TYNESIDE’S newest cocktail bar will be serving up spirits – in all their forms – this month, during a special, spook-tacular event. From Thursday 30 October to Saturday 1 November, Tiger Hornsby, Close, Quayside, is offering cocktails for a slashed price to all customers who arrive in Hallowe’en costumes. The three day celebration of all things scary is entitled Tiger Haunts Me and, along with a DJ playing suitably spooky tracks, there will be a make-up artist offering theatrical Halloween face painting for those who really want to get into the spirit of things. “It is also perfectly possible that the building will be visited by spirits of the non-alcoholic kind,” said owner Rachael Frame, “as it occupies one of Newcastle’s oldest sites and has witnessed its fair share of drama over the centuries. “The Quayside was not only a refuge for those fleeing the plague in 1595, but suffered tragedy of its own when typhus struck in 1827,” she said. “So I wouldn’t be in the least surprised if we are visited by the ghosts of Geordies from years gone by.” Tiger Haunts Me will take place between 3pm and 2am on Thursday 30 October, 3pm to 3am on Friday 31 October and 3pm to 3am on Saturday 1 November.
