Summer savers at Buddha this month

Newcastle's newest Asian fusion restaurant is turning up the heat with a sizzling new summer offer this month. Buddha at 55 Degrees North has launched an exciting Summer Saver menu which will be available for two weeks starting Monday, 16 July.

The menu will be available five days a week and draws inspiration from across the Far East, featuring dishes from places such as Thailand, Malaysia, China and Japan. It has been created by the restaurant’s new head chef, Malaysian-born Walter Pang, who trained in Japan and previously worked in London’s famous Nobu restaurant.

The Summer Saver menu will be available Monday through to Friday from 16-27 July, priced at £10 from 12pm - 4pm and £15 from 4pm - 9.30pm and includes two courses along with a soft drink. It features some of Buddha’s 'hero' dishes, with a choice of three starters, three mains and four desserts.

Starters include Chicken and Sweetcorn Soup with fresh hand-pulled shredded chicken, Buddha Satay Chicken and Sticky Chicken Wings, while main choices are Katsu Chicken, signature Honey Chilli Chicken and Edo Beef, along with daily vegetarian options. These are served with a choice of sides including Egg Fried Rice, Salt and Chilli Chips, Garlic Potatoes and Stir-Fried Vegetables.

Sweet-toothed diners can choose from desserts such as Mango, Passion Fruit and Chocolate Delice, Lemon and Lime Mousse Cake, Chocolate Fudge Cake with Chocolate Sauce, or Citrus Fruit Bavarois with cream.

“We have launched our Summer Saver menu to give diners the chance to sample some of our most popular dishes and enjoy a great deal at the same time,” said Gary Hutchinson of Chrysalis Leisure, which owns Buddha.

“It’s been a busy time here with the opening of Antler and the changes we have made with our Buddha restaurant, and we felt it was a good idea to offer some special deals to celebrate the summer. Our chef has worked hard to come up with these fantastic dishes and we hope to attract new and old customers alike to join us and enjoy the food prepared by our talented team at Buddha.”

The Buddha, formerly known as Fat Buddha, has recently located to the upper floor of the venue, with the new Alpine-themed Antler bar now occupying the downstairs area.
