Primark’s Newcastle Store to Host 10 Bespoke Pop-Up Shops Run by Female Small Business Owners

Primark Newcastle has announced a group of female small business owners will start to host exciting new pop-up shops offering beauty, accessories and jewellery at a dedicated space in store on Northumberland Street.

The pop-ups open for the first time on Thursday 7 March and end on Sunday 7 April, with two different businesses being hosted each weekend from Thursday to Sunday over the next five weeks.

The bespoke pop-up experiences are part of Primark’s celebrations to mark International Women’s Day (Friday 8 March) on the UK high street, with many of the small businesses selected to help female entrepreneurship thrive in the local community over the next five weeks.

Local shoppers can find these pop-up experiences on the second floor of the retailer’s Newcastle store, opening doors to new customers and creating greater brand awareness for the female entrepreneurs and their small businesses.

Tian’s Gifts is one of the female-owned small businesses that will open on the first weekend for customers during International Women’s Day. The business has been designed to be the home of unique handmade oriental gifts that embrace Chinese culture and bring modern techniques to its bespoke items. Founder Tian shares how she’s been supported by her local community and local council in Newcastle since first setting up shop.

Tian, founder of Tian’s Gifts, saidI’m very grateful to receive such a big welcome from the Newcastle community, after I moved to the UK just a few years ago. Since then, I’ve been on a mission to launch my first business – which I’ve started from scratch using my own savings and business intuition. This is a skill that I believe all women, not just female entrepreneurs, can absolutely adopt to create more opportunities for themselves. I’m excited to introduce my products to more people in Newcastle, learning also from Primark to see first-hand what they’ve done and replicate it to help drive my own success.”

The opening weekend in Primark Newcastle will begin with make-up brand Peaches & Cream who is well known to its TikTok fans, and Chinese oriental gift company, Tian’s Gifts, who will be available in store from Thursday 7 March until Sunday 11 March, with a wider range of female-run small businesses ranging from beauty to accessories to follow over the coming weeks.

The Great Brand Exchange is working with Primark for five weeks during March to April across two of its UK stores in Birmingham and Newcastle to help support small business owners. Primark customers can visit the bespoke pop-up locations during the Newcastle store’s regular shopping hours, from 08:00-20:00 Thursday to Friday, 08:00-19:00 on Saturdays and 10:30-17:00 on Sundays.
