Official Opening of Newcastle’s First Smokehouse and Brewery – Hop & Cleaver

Following the opening of Pleased to Meet You last year, Ladhar Leisure have embarked upon their latest boundary - pushing venture with the opening of Hop & Cleaver. Inspired by the American concept of smoking locally sourced meat and cooking it low and slow for up to 16 hours. The venue will also include its own in-house brewery, which sees Hop & Cleaver team up with locally based brewery Temptation to produce its very own, exclusive beers. Originally a merchant’s house, the listed building dates back to Jacobean times and is one of the oldest merchants' houses remaining in Newcastle. With such a rich history, the original architecture has dictated much of the redevelopment, making for a unique dining and drinking experience. Designer, and two time Northern Interior Designer of the Year, Simon McIlwraith said: " I would like people to walk in and see something they've never seen before. Ultimately they should  walk away and feel they've been part of something special. As a designer, that's always important." Located in the former Offshore site on the city’s vibrant quayside, Hop & Cleaver will officially open its door to the public on Friday 25th July at 6 pm. The official opening will see all invited guests treated to complimentary drinks, along with samples from the exclusive smokehouse menu.
