New vision for Northumbria artists

Inspired artworks created by the first Northumbria University artists to take up residence in BxNU Institute for Contemporary Art’s Level 1 Studios will be showcased to the public at BALTIC 39 this month. The annual Postgraduate Visual Arts Degree Show displays the work of students completing their Northumbria University MA Fine Art and MA Fine Art & Education programmes – run in collaboration with BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art. The exhibition will be launched on Thursday 12 September in the BxNU Institute for Contemporary Art at BALTIC 39, High Bridge. BxNU – the result of a collaborative partnership between BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art and Northumbria University – offers opportunities for fine art students to explore, in depth, their studio practice supported by leading academics, internationally renowned artists and the wider community of practice-led researchers based within the institute. The work in this year’s exhibition demonstrates the rigour and vitality that distinguishes Northumbria graduate and is inspired by the artists’ response to the new spacious architectural environment in High Bridge Following a public preview on Thursday 12 September at 6pm, the Postgraduate Visual Arts Degree Show will run from 13-20 September at BALTIC 39, 31-39 High Bridge, Newcastle, between 10am-4pm. Some of the artworks will be exhibited in London at the Truman Brewery in Shoreditch in October.
