New start line for Chinese New Year ‘Warm Up’ Parade at intu Eldon Square

intu Eldon Square welcomes back their spectacular Chinese New Year Parade this Saturday 25th January, with a brand-new route through the shopping centre.

A ‘warm-up’ to the main parade which is taking place this Sunday, the performance will begin at intu Eldon Square’s Northumberland Street main entrance at 11am and make its way to Boots and John Lewis & Partners where dancers will stop for a 10-minute performance. The parade will then continue through the centre and end at Umai Mi for the finale.

Shoppers and visitors can expect to see an entertaining traditional Chinese parade to celebrate the New Year complete with an exciting Lion Dance, characters costumes and lively dance moves which celebrate the occasion and warn away any evil spirits for the year ahead.

The parade is set to catch the attention of shoppers as it moves through the shopping centre. Better yet, intu Eldon Square will be handing out 100 red envelopes each enclosed with a voucher from a store inside the mall or an intu Gift Card.

Peter Beagley, Centre Director at intu Eldon Square, said: “We’re thrilled to be welcoming the Chinese New Year parade back to intu Eldon Square this weekend, it’s a great celebration with lots of exciting entertainment for all of the family to enjoy! We’re joining in on the celebrations and will be surprising 100 visitors with store vouchers and intu Gift Cards.”

The arrival of Chinese New Year 2020 marks the beginning of the Year of the Rat. Those born in this year are said to be optimistic and liked by all.

The Parade will set off from Northumberland Street at 11am on Saturday 25th January, for more information visit https://intu.co.uk/eldonsquare.
