New live music show in production in Newcastle

The Unsigned Arch More than 30 years after legendary music show The Tube was first filmed in Newcastle upon Tyne, a new, weekly online music show featuring unsigned bands from the region is in production in the city. The Unsigned Arch is being shot in Newcastle’s Ouseburn Valley and will be broadcast weekly, with each episode consisting of a performance by a different live band. Music producer Isaac Parker, creator of The Unsigned Arch, said: “We wanted to create a way for the North East to shout about all the unsigned musical talent we have here and give international exposure to some of the amazing musicians in the region. “We’re excited to help launch the next generation of great North East bands and artists.” Some of the acts that are already lined up to appear on The Unsigned Arch include Newcastle-based singer-songwriter Sam Thomas, Billingham’s Mouses, and Newcastle’s Lauren Lowes and Casual Threats Each episode will be filmed in front of a live studio audience and broadcast along with interviews and backstage footage. “We’re filming the show in a studio which is right in the middle of the Ouseburn Valley. It’s one of the most vibrant places in the North East for live music and The Unsigned Arch will have great music, great sound and a great setting,” added Isaac.  The Unsigned Arch has launched a Kickstarter campaign to help support the first year’s production of the show, which aims to feature at least 25 musicians. Newcastle based band, Casual Threats, said: “It's like Newcastle meets Letterman. It's a great way to get a taster of live music. We hope people support The Unsigned Arch because there's a whole host of bands in Newcastle who are trying to get their music out to people. Chances are, if someone didn't like us, there would be something else in the eclectic line up that would take their fancy.” The first episode of The Unsigned Arch will air in September.
