New bar and eatery ‘ouses’ coolness and charm!

Ouseburn gains another new venue launching very soon!

An old tyre garage in Ouseburn has been transformed into to an exciting brewpub and kitchen by an exclusive partnership between craft microbrewery, Newcastle Brewing Ltd and Tynemouth-based coffee shop, Dil and the Bear!

Situated on Stepney Bank, the exciting new development called Arch 2 Brewpub & Kitchen is set in an arch under Byker Bridge, and includes an open plan bar, café, beer garden and microbrewery that will accommodate up to 80 people.

Launching to the public on Friday 19th May 2017, the venue will offer ten keg lines with everything from lagers to dark stouts and porters. Most beer will be brewed on site as well as hosting regular guest beers from local breweries.

Lovingly restored by owners Newcastle Brewing Ltd directors Leo and Mike Bell, and Dil and the Bear owner Dilaila Galbraith, Arch 2 Brewpub & Kitchen will be open daily serving breakfasts from 9am and meals and drinks until closing at 11pm.

Director Leo Bell, 38, said: “Ouseburn is a buzzing area with lots of interesting and popular pubs along with several places of interest.

“As part of our new venture we wanted to add to the wealth of great pubs and restaurants in the area, whilst offering something a little different and where possible use local suppliers and businesses.

“As well as brewing our own beers and ales on site, our wine selection is coming from a supplier who hails from Walker and the food menu created and served by Dil and the Bear will feature locally sourced and seasonal produce.”

Newcastle Brewing Ltd is run by father and son duo Mike and Leo Bell. After investing in a home-brewing kit two years ago, the entrepreneurs had been on the look-out for a new site after outgrowing their microbrewery in the Quayside Enterprise Centre.

Leo continued: “When the opportunity came up for Arch 2 we were keen to make our vision a reality.

“Ouseburn has a real community feel. Local residents and businesses have been heavily involved transforming Arch 2, which wouldn’t have been possible without their investment, so to them we’d like to say a massive thank you.”
