A starlit night, the ideal setting for a romantic proposal and now weddings too as Life Conference and Banqueting at the Centre for Life, Newcastle has been granted a licence for couples to tie the knot in its planetarium. The city-centre venue has also been granted marriage licences for three of its main conference suites meaning Life can now cater for wedding and civil ceremony services with guests of up to 200. Liz Dean, Trading and Operations Director at Life said: “We’ve been known as a reception venue for a number of years so we’re thrilled that we can now offer the full wedding service here at Life and that couples can choose one of four suites for their ceremony, including our stunning planetarium which is situated within the Life Science Centre.” The planetarium can seat up to 70 guests and couples will be able to choose from a range of overhead backdrops including constellations, the Newcastle city skyline and the breath-taking Northumbrian hills to create a unique and memorable wedding. Ms Dean added:  “Our visitors are always commenting on how stunning the planetarium is and we have had several requests from couples who’ve wanted to use it as venue for their marriage service, which is slightly different from its day to day existence as home to visiting school parties and families viewing astronomy-themed shows. “Couples today are wanting to minimise the fuss of transporting guests to and from their wedding  and reception and to now be able to offer the full package means we can help couples tailor and theme their entire event.  It’s a market that is constantly changing; everyone is looking to simplify arrangements yet create something very special and individual – we are confident that we will appeal to those who want something totally different! Life Conference & Banqueting offers a range of wedding packages including the new wedding ceremony package which includes a three course wedding breakfast for 60, evening reception and buffet for 100 and the services of a toastmaster, DJ and Disco.
