Mammoth story reading session at Elephant Parade
Children enjoying half-term in Newcastle can look forward to visiting the Elephant Parade UK tour currently residing in the city’s intu Eldon Square shopping centre.
As well as getting up close and personal with the 30 elephants on display, young visitors will have the opportunity to hear elephant inspired stories from staff at Newcastle Libraries on Wednesday 30th October from 11 am.
Joan Taylor, Marketing Manager at intu Eldon Square, said:
“Elephant Parade has been a huge hit with everyone visiting the centre. Our shoppers have described them as uplifting and inspirational, and they have been adored by people of all ages. On Wednesday 30th October, our younger visitors can enjoy listening to popular elephant stories, including The Large Family by Jill Murphy and Harry stories by Kim Lewis, and my all-time favourite, Elmer the Patchwork Elephant, by David McKee.”
David Fay, City Libraries’ manager, added:
"Newcastle libraries are delighted to take part in this wonderful Elephant Parade celebration in Eldon Square. We are always looking for new ways to attract children to reading and we think this is a perfect opportunity. Library staff and volunteers will be reading some of our favourite elephant related stories in intu Eldon Square next to one of the magnificent elephants on parade in St Andrew’s Way from 11 am on Wednesday 30th October. This is the perfect way for us to meet lots of children and encourage them to visit our libraries."
Elephant Parade is in intu Eldon Square until Sunday 10th November.
