Local charity to benefit from Halloween fundraiser

Local nursing lecturer Claire Dosdale of Northumbria University is hoping to raise hundreds of pounds for Tyneside-based charity, Rape Crisis Tyneside and Northumberland this October with a Halloween party at the Assembly Rooms. On Friday 30 October, guests are invited to a fancy dress party which will include dinner and entry into a raffle to win a range of prizes donated by local businesses.  Activities on the night will include a guess the pumpkin weight, a spooktacular quiz, a fancy dress competition, as well as a specially created cocktail for the occasion. Organiser, Claire said “I’m currently exploring sexual violence disclosures to nurses as part of a research project and was shocked to discover Rape Crisis is one of the least donated to charities in the UK. After sharing this with some colleagues we decided we wanted to support Rape Crisis Tyneside and Northumberland. 1 in 5 women over the age of 16 will experience some form of sexual violence during their lifetime, it’s so important we have this regional service to provide counselling and support for women. We wanted to host a fun event that anyone could come along to and have a great night whilst raising money for a fantastic cause.” Tickets are priced from £20 and all money raised will be donated directly to Rape Crisis Tyneside and Northumberland. Tickets can be bought from: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/halloween-spooktacular-for-rape-crisis-tyneside-and-northumberland-tickets-17959415094   or by contacting Claire directly: [email protected] 07894554059 Rape Crisis Tyneside and Northumberland operate a free, independent service which includes a telephone helpline: 0800 035 2794 Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday (6pm-8.30pm) Friday daytime (11.00am-2.30pm)
