Life Science Centre introduces Summer Saver offer for struggling families

Newcastle’s Life Science Centre has introduced a one ticket, three visits summer saver for families in the region who are impacted by the cost-of-living crisis.

Visitors can purchase one ticket and return for another two visits before the end of the school holidays - free of charge. Linda Conlon, Chief Executive of Life said: “We know that there is incredible pressure on family budgets at the moment.  We’d love to open our doors free of charge but as we don’t get any money from government it’s impossible for us to do this.   But we do want to help families and make it easy for them to visit over the long summer holidays – hence the summer saver ticket.”

This summer, families can enjoy a new programme inspired by the Toy Story astronaut Buzz Lightyear. Life has partnered Disney and Pixar to explore the science that inspired the movie Lightyear, released earlier this year. One of the highlights of the Life programme is a brand new show in the state-of-the-art planetarium, the most advanced in the North. Falling with Style, created by Life’s new in-house digital producer, explores how gravity effects the Universe and uses Digistar-7 technology to provide ultra-rich visuals and a truly immersive experience.

Other activities include making (and taking home) air-powered rockets in the Making Studios; a new live show which takes visitors on a journey through space; the opportunity to do real experiments such as making your own rocket fuel. Life is also home to the Space Zone which includes hands-on replicas of Mission Control and part of the International Space Station.
