Laugh a minute’ parody of Lady Chatterley’s Lover comes to Newcastle in November 2020

Not: Lady Chatterley’s Lover, a saucy and subversive parody of Lady Chatterley’s Lover by D.H. Lawrence, is coming to the Tyne Theatre & Opera House on Sunday 8th November 2020.

After a successful run at Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Happy Idiot in association with Worthing Theatres and Museum presents this inventive and playful parody that brings a comedic twist to the classic D.H. Lawrence novel.

In this narrative, Lady Chatterley - who feels neglected by her husband following his return from the war paralyzed and confined to a wheelchair - becomes embroiled in a passionate, sexual and curiously experimental affair with the estate gamekeeper Mellors.

This show is perfect for those familiar with the classic novel, wanting to relive the story in a fresh and comedic way that will have everyone laughing out loud. For those discovering the story for the first time, expect contemplative looks into the middle distance, touching drama, plenty of farce and a gentle stroke of innuendo.

Theatre Director Joanne Johnson said “We’re excited to welcome ‘Not: Lady Chatterley’s Lover’ to our stage this year. Following its successful run at Edinburgh Fringe, we’re sure our audiences, whether aware of the original novel or not, will love this innovative and fresh take on the D.H Lawrence story.”

“The pace is watertight and the comic timing is perfect.”-
