Halloween Comes to Freight Island Newcastle

Freight Island Newcastle is celebrating its first Halloween with a full day of events on Saturday, 31st October, bringing together a family-focused daytime rave and an evening party for adults.

Halloween on the Island will see Rave & Play take over the venue from 1-4pm, with an afternoon of music, circus and activities for families. Resident DJ Dappa will provide the soundtrack, alongside two performances from Cirka Norda youth circus and a professional aerial and circus performance.

The afternoon will also feature Halloween crafts and interactive Rave & Play activities, with roaming skeleton characters, glow-in-the-dark fun and smoke-filled bubbles adding to the experience. Younger visitors can make use of the play den and cinema breakout space.

Freight Island opens from 12pm, with families encouraged to arrive early for lunch before the rave begins. Kids eat free throughout half-term, making it easy to make a full day of the visit. Adult tickets are £8, with children’s tickets priced at £5.

From 8pm until late, the focus shifts to the Fright Island Skeleton Ball, bringing house music, live performances and a more grown-up take on Halloween to Newcastle. Thomas Dixon will combine DJ sets with live sax, while Mizbee brings DJing and live vocals, with aerial performer Lila Naruse adding a visual element to the evening.

The venue will take on a more atmospheric feel, with striking projections and interactive artwork complemented by immersive lighting and a series of visual installations throughout the space.

Tickets for the Skeleton Ball are £5 in advance or £7 on the door.

With two separate events across the day, Halloween on the Island offers a daytime option for families during half-term, followed by an evening celebration for those looking to continue the festivities after dark.
