Last Chance for Christmas Eve Skating!

Festive Fun for the Whole Family at Life

Christmas Eve is full of quirky family traditions. Whether this is leaving out mince pies for Santa (not forgetting the carrots for Rudolph!), hanging stockings above the fireplace, or taking a trip to see the local Christmas lights; it is part of what makes Christmas such a magical time of year.

When it comes to festive traditions, a visit to the outdoor Ice Rink at Life Science Centre is a hard-to-beat Christmas essential for many in the area! Due to the popularity of the rink, it is vital that this year’s Christmas Eve skating sessions are booked in advance at life.org.uk to ensure visitors a spot on the ice. Skating will be available from 10am – 6pm, with the last skate beginning at 5pm.

Nicola Whitworth, one of the Ice Team Leaders on the rink, loves the atmosphere that Christmas Eve brings. She said, “The rink has a real feel-good factor on Christmas Eve. Families come down to skate together, you see parents helping their children and couples all bundled up. It is a great way to get into the festive spirit!”

To prolong the Christmas fun, visitors can grab a ticket to the Science Centre and explore all that Life has to offer, including the festive 4D Motion Ride* ‘Night at the Toy Store’, where audiences can see what the toys get up to after the customers have left the store... Also included is BODY WORLDS Vital – the exhibition of real human bodies that has been astounding visitors since May, as well as the new Science Theatre show ‘Do Try this at Home 2’, which is full of amazing experiments that can be carried out using average household objects.

With all of this and more, a visit to Life is perfect for entertaining the whole family this Christmas.

Prices to skate start at £8.50 per adult and £6.50 per child. The rink is open every day except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day until 22 February 2015. For full details visit www.life.org.uk or call (0191) 243 8210

*For safety reasons, visitors wishing to ride the 4D Motion Ride must be a minimum of 1.2m in height.
