Join Urban Green Newcastle for the Fun-filled Newcastle Allotment & Garden Show This September
Urban Green Newcastle and the Newcastle Allotment Working Group are thrilled to be bringing the Newcastle Allotment & Garden Show back to Leazes Park for 2022. This September sees the event back in the park bringing growers from across the region together to show off their best produce and celebrate with activities and entertainment for all the family.
The show is open to the public from 11am to 4pm on Sunday 18 September. The day will be jam-packed, giving everyone the chance to admire the fantastic efforts of the entrants, visit stalls celebrating the best in local produce, and get stuck in with growing-themed workshops.
Throughout the day you can also enjoy a whole host of entertainment, including live music performances in the bandstand, talks from experts in beekeeping, climate change, and hints and tips on growing your own produce, and Yoga or Tai Chi in the Wellbeing Zone. Plus a variety of community stalls and food and drink vendors, including event supporters Ringtons.
There’s plenty for the kids to get stuck into as well, with rides on a mini-fairground, unique creative activities with the Beelines North East team and Curious Arts, lawn games courtesy of NE1 and face painting!
Carol Pyrah, CEO of Urban Green Newcastle, said: “We can’t wait to see the amazing produce being grown by allotment growers across the city. Good luck to everyone who is entering!
Our team have been working hard behind the scenes to make sure that the show has a little something for everyone this year, so we can’t wait to welcome everyone in Newcastle to join the celebrations!”
The day will also include announcements of the category winners, with first place winners for the Championship Classes of Champion City Show Display, Collection of Vegetables and Newcastle Challenge Cup awarded up to £100.
The show has also received donations from a number of fantastic local businesses this year, including the generous support of Ringtons.
A spokesperson for Ringtons, said: "It's a pleasure to support Urban Green and the growers of Newcastle! After all, we all need a good cup of tea and a ginger snap as we potter about in our gardens or allotments, so we'll be there throughout the weekend sharing all the great things about Ringtons - we're excited for people to come and say hi and pick up a sample.”
The Newcastle Allotment & Garden Show 2022 is made possible through the support of Ringtons, Newcastle City Council, NE1, Large Print Works, Boutique Event Hire, Belle Tents and Team Digital.
