It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas!!
The Christmas spirit is well and truly alive at intu Eldon Square!
This year’s Christmas lights were switched on by ITV Tyne Tees presenters Pam Royle and Ian Payne, who were joined by stars from the panto Sleeping Beauty at The Mill Volvo Tyne Theatre, as well as the Newcastle City Temple Band of the Salvation Army, and sensational barberpop singing quartet Scarlet Street. No Christmas activities would be complete without the main man himself, Santa, and he popped out of his grotto in Fenwick to add to the festive fun.
Joan Taylor, Marketing Manager at intu Eldon Square said:
“I’m delighted that Pam and Ian were able to join us once more at this yearly festive event, and we’re all very much looking forward to this year’s light switch-on. On the day of the switch on we launched our ‘Christmas Wrapped Up’ competition, and one of our lucky customers will win £5,000 to spend at intu Eldon Square before Christmas!”
Pam Royle added:
“Both Ian and I thoroughly enjoy the switch-on of intu Eldon Square’s Christmas lights, which is an uplifting and enjoyable affair, and always heralds the start of my Christmas shopping as I do like to be organised!”
Ian Payne commented:
“True to form, my Christmas shopping will not begin until the week before Christmas, and I’ll be sure to take advantage of the Christmas Gift Wrapping service in intu Eldon Square from 13th December. This is a pop up gift-wrapping shop that is manned by volunteers on behalf of The Children’s Foundation charity. Last year this raised over £3,000 from donations in return for beautifully wrapped presents, and I’ll be helping them beat that target this year!”
