Here & Now – Photo Exhibition

The more time you spend in the Tyne Theatre & Opera House, the more the building seems to reveal itself to you. To begin with, you are struck by the grandeur and scale, and then as you move in closer and let your eyes adjust you become aware of the intricate details. It is a space of possibility that, with a little imagination, can transport you to another time and place. Sadly, years of neglect from private ownership are now beginning to show in the fabric of the building, however The Tyne Theatre and Opera House Preservation Trust is embarking on a very exciting project to refurbish the theatre. 2017 will be the 150th anniversary of the opening of this amazing building, and they aim to raise enough money to restore this fabulous Grade 1 listed building back to its Victorian roots. Recording as much of the history, design and space of this Grade 1 listed theatre, including not just the areas that the paying public can see, but also behind and underneath the scenes. You should not just concentrate on the large areas, but also keep in mind the intricate details and areas where time and use haven’t been so kind. Images can be either colour or mono, in portrait or landscape format. The Exhibition will be displayed in the Bistro Bar from Monday 21st to Saturday 26th September from 10am to 5pm. Please pop in and have a look of the amazing photos that show off the beautiful structure what we call the Tyne Theatre & Opera House.
