Handbags in the City 2013
North East children’s cancer charity Josie’s Dragonfly Trust will be hosting a celebrity and designer Handbag Auction on Thursday 28th November. Set to be an exciting evening, held at Newcastle’s most glamorous venue ‘The House of Smith’, tickets are now on sale for this innovative event.
Josie’s Dragonfly Trust was set up six years ago by an inspirational teenager Josie Madeline Grove shortly before she lost her own battle with Leukaemia in 2007. Despite her illness, the altruistic teenager spent her final months brightening the lives of other young people who were also suffering from a devastating cancer diagnosis. Now in its sixth year, the charity is Josie’s incredibly legacy and has continued her work in bringing happiness to hundreds of young cancer patients across the UK.
The ever-growing charity, now in its sixth year, has gone from strength to strength following a series of sell-out events. Known for its fun and quirky style, the charity has gained a reputation locally for hosting original and interesting events and The Handbag Auction is set to be a night like no other.
On the night, bags will be auctioned from the likes of Joanna Lumley, Judi Dench and British Olympic Champion Beth Tweddle, Karl Pilkington, Jo Brand and many more! Each of these unique bags tells a remarkable story with a handwritten label from the celebrity, giving someone a chance to own a piece of history.
Money raised from the auction will go towards providing Dragonfly Dreams and Cash Gifts of £500 to children and young people receiving palliative care. These allow the young patients to create special memories with family and friends when time is precious. Josie’s Dragonfly Trust supports hundreds of children each year in cancer wards across the UK.
Join us for this thrilling event, filled with prosecco, Dragonfly Cocktails, and a special handbag raffle. If you want to bag yourself a bargain and own a piece of history then don’t miss out on this one off event.
