HALLOWEEN IN 4D AT LIFE

Halloween has arrived at Life Science Centre in the form of Frankenstein: Escape the Monster, a new 4D Motion Ride* guaranteed to generate spine-tingling screams as visitors embark on a journey filled with frights in a bid to out-run the evil monster. Frankenstein: Escape the Monster 4D is the tale of an experiment gone wrong.  The action starts as the monster wakes.  What follows is an adrenalin-fuelled, fast-paced chase through the dark corners of his haunted house before plunging deep into underground tunnels and racing along long-forgotten mine tracks, ending up in a ghostly graveyard for a frightening finale. Ian Simmons, Science Communications Director at Life, said: “Frankenstein: Escape the Monster 4D is an exciting addition to our programme of activities.  The 4D effects really add to the experience and visitors can expect to be sprayed with water, blasted with air and smells as they experience every twist, turn, high and low as their seat moves in time to the action on screen. I’m sure it will be a firm favourite this Halloween.” The 4D Motion Ride which is included in the price of admission to the Science Centre will run until 8 November and is part of Life’s Halloween celebrations.  During half term week (starting 26 October) little witches and wizards can roll up their sleeves and make some ghoulish gloop in the daily Slime Workshops and learn about the science behind the slippery substance. In the Science Theatre, audiences will be asked to help figure out what will happen next in a series of live experiments in the ‘What Happens Next?’ show, while in the Centre’s planetarium, ‘Moonstruck’ explores the dark side of the Moon and unveils more about this mystical object that shines brightly in our night sky. October half term week is also the last chance to catch the Age of the Dinosaur exhibition from the Natural History Museum with its animatronic life-sized dinosaurs and fascinating collection of fossils and artefacts exploring the Cretaceous and Jurassic periods. On Halloween (31 October), visitors can get their own gruesome scar or wicked wound with film and TV makeup artist Laura Tallentire (£2.00 extra charge per person for this activity.).   Available 11.00am - 4.00pm. Life will also be hosting an after-hours Halloween Late for the 18+ audience from 8pm on 31October. Tickets for the Late event cost £4 per person and are payable on the door but can be booked in advance by calling (0191) 2438223 or online at www.life.org.uk Admission prices for Life are: Family ticket:  £29.50; Adult £10.85, Child £7.50 (under 2s Free) and concessions £8.75.
