George’s Great British Kitchen shortlisted as a finalist in the Restaurant & Bar Design Awards

George’s Great British Kitchen has been shortlisted as a finalist in the Restaurant & Bar Design Awards, within the ‘Restaurant or bar in a retail space’ category.

Having opened in Grey’s Quarter as part of Intu’s new restaurant development last October, George’s Great British Kitchen has become one of the most popular eateries in the quarter and has received great reviews from the people of Newcastle and surrounding areas since its opening.

Designed by Phillip Watts Design, the restaurant has many subtle quirks and attention to detail has gone into every part of the restaurant, from the beach huts, named after some of the favourite getaway locations within or close to the North East, to the wallpaper featuring famous Tyneside icons such as the Angel of the North.

The Restaurant & Bar Design Awards are now in their ninth year, having gained a huge global following and is now recognised as the leading competition, dedicated to the design of food and beverage spaces. Entries from over 70 countries cover every imaginable hospitality space; From ships to airports, museums to burger vans, from revered Michelin-starred establishments to the fleeting dynamism of pop-ups.

George’s Managing Director, Andrew Constantinou said:
To be nominated in such prestigious awards is unbelievable! It’s testament to the unique talent and hard work the team at Phillip Watts Design have put into to making our restaurant such a special place to be, every time you visit there is a small detail that you hadn’t noticed previously. Both Phil and I are extremely proud to be representing Newcastle on an International stage! "

The winners of the 2017 Restaurant & Bar Design Awards (including Best Overall winners) will be announced during a ceremony at London’s King’s Cross on the 5th October.
