Geordie Jackpot gets Shearer's backing!

Football legend and Geordie hero Alan Shearer is giving his backing to NE1’s Geordie Jackpot in time for the pre-Christmas countdown.  Newcastle’s greatest goal scorer of all time is urging people to get their numbers and get behind the lottery to help make improvements to the city centre, raise money for charity as well as being in with the chance of winning extra lottery prizes in time for Christmas.

Between now and the end of the year, bonus prizes will be added to the guaranteed weekly lottery payout of £1K and the chance to win the Geordie Jackpot of £25,000.

The bolt-on prizes have a seasonal theme and many are ‘money can’t buy’ opportunities, including the first Christmas giveaway, which will be awarded on Saturday 11 November.  This prize, courtesy of Metro Radio, will offer a rare and exclusive opportunity for a winner and family to enjoy a VIP, bird’s eye view of the city’s traditional Christmas lights switch on, celebrations that they will witness from the top of the Grey’s Monument in Newcastle.

Access to the Monument is limited to only several days a year and places on these trips are always highly sought after.

On the evening of Tuesday 14 November, the prize winner will be invited to climb to the top of the Monument, avoiding the 5,000 strong crowd that is expected to gather there, and enjoy the hour of festive songs, free entertainment and on-stage games and antics 130 feet below.  Celebrity hosts, Metro Radio’s Breakfast Show stars, Steve and Karen will perform the honours of switching on the lights from a stage at the bottom of the Earl Grey monument at approximately 6.30pm.  After the Christmas Light switch on, the Geordie Jackpot prize-winner will be treated to dinner at Browns Restaurant.

Other special Christmas prizes include a Family ticket to the Polar Express Christmas screening at the Tyneside Cinema.  The film attracts a lot of audience participation with people going to the Cinema in their pyjamas to enjoy hot chocolate, gingerbread men and a special visit from Father Christmas at the end of the show.

To allow a prize-winner to get fit after Christmas – the add-on prize for the weekly draw of 9 December is an annual membership to the newly opened Anytime Fitness Gym in Newcastle.   In the remaining two weeks pre-Christmas there will be other Christmas present giveaways that will be announced via the Geordie Jackpot website at www.geordiejackpot.co.uk.

As everyone’s thoughts turn to planning holidays in the New Year, and to make the last lottery play date of 2017 memorable, NE1 has teamed up with Emirates airline to offer the fabulous prize of two return tickets from Newcastle to Dubai.

NUFC and football legend Alan Shearer backing the Geordie Jackpot said:
“All Newcastle fans have the chance to make the city even greater by buying Geordie Jackpot lottery tickets.  I’m delighted to be backing NE1’s Geordie Jackpot and it is fantastic to see that the money raised goes directly into new and exciting projects in the Toon and to the local charity, Cash for Kids.’

Sean Bullick, Chief Executive of NE1 Ltd said:
“It is great to see so many people supporting the Geordie Jackpot and now to have Alan Shearer on side is a massive boost to our lottery.  We’re delighted to be able to make the lottery draws more exciting in the run-up to the end of the year with all the exciting special prizes and we are looking forward to making our first donations to Cash for Kids in time for Christmas.”
