Future Chefs Needed

Harry's Bar and Brasserie, a new restaurant opening on Grey St in Newcastle, is looking to recruit young people who are enthusiastic, hardworking and passionate individuals interested in cooking as a career in a new vibrant city centre environment.

Recruitment Process

You will start on a pre-apprenticeship programme with the College, this is an eight week selection programme where successful candidates will go onto be interviewed and, if successful, commence employment when the business opens in April. The eight week programme will contain elements of practical and theory based around:
  • Basic knife skills
  • Basic cooking
  • Basic food preparation
  • Food safety
Candidates will be in college three days a week and will spend time working in our real working environments as part of the programme.

What happens next?

At the end of the pre-Apprenticeship programme, all candiates will be interviewed by staff from Harry's Bar and Brasserie. Seven people, if successful, will be offered full-time permanent Apprenticeships in professional cookery with Harry's – for unsuccessful candidates we will work with you to ensure you either have the opportunity for further education with the college or potential employment with other local employers in the restuarant trade.

Please complete and submit the form here, and Newcastle College's hospitality tutors will be in touch with you to arrange for you to come in for a quick chat to discuss the role further.
