Funtopia Brings Bank Holiday Joy to Youngsters

The sell-out success of a family-friendly event has led to it being repeated on the first May Bank Holiday.

Funtopia was staged at Newcastle’s Times Square in March, with the combination of children’s entertainment, crafting, live stage shows and food and drink proving a winning formula.

And the good news for anyone who didn’t get a ticket last time round – or who is missing the experience – it that it’s all set to happen again on 5 May.

Organisers EVNT Inspirations & Let’s Party Events have once again created a packed programme for the open-air festival which is running from 1.30pm until 5pm.

Both sessions will two live stage shows, featuring a whole host of favourite characters from Bluey through to Elsa.

After each show youngster can head to the tipi for a meet and greet with the performers and have their photograph taken.

A dedicated Funzone will feature face painting, balloon modelling and bubble fun while kids can also enjoy the dance pen – where adults can enter but must sit on the floor so there’s strictly no dad dancing.

A range of food and drink outlets will also be available, featuring a number of street food favourites including Meat:Stack, Truly Madly Pizza, The Greek-ster, Coffee and Churros and Doughvine Desserts.

An ice cream van will be on site and there will be a range of bars, including a 20ft long slushie and ice pop bar.

Nigel Holliday of EVNT Inspirations said it was the success of the first event which was the decider in running it again.

“We were overwhelmed by how quickly the tickets for the first event sold out,” he said.

“We know there was a lot of disappointed youngsters so we thought we would repeat the day – with two sessions to allow even more people to take part.

“We’ve got even more on offer this time round so even if families were lucky enough to come to the first event, they’ll find even more fun and surprises this time round.”

Tickets for Funtopia cost £5 per person and £2 for under twos. They can be bought at www.funtopia.uk

Some of the activities such as face painting carry an additional cost.
