Fenwick Celebrating Norths finest food and drink

Fenwick Newcastle is set to showcase the North’s flag-waving food and drink this summer, hosting a series of bespoke events in celebration of Great Exhibition of the North. Bringing some of the region’s best producers, brands and chefs to the fore, the department store will serve up a mouth-watering programme of events beginning on 25 June 2018.

Carefully curated visitor experiences will include everything from supper clubs with renowned chefs and cocktail masterclasses to night markets with live music and one-off, exclusive pop-up stalls, all in the hugely popular setting of the Fenwick Newcastle Food Hall. The Fenwick x Hepple Gin Window Experience will set the bar high when it launches in the famous stretch of windows on Northumberland Street, running from Thursday 28 June to Sunday 1 July.

Over the four days, in front of passing crowds on the busy shopping thoroughfare, ticketholders will be treated to a unique four-stage gin experience under the guidance of the brand’s experts, including a tasting session and a cocktail masterclass. In July the highly-anticipated Fenwick Food Hall Night Market will feature an eclectic range of pop-ups and live music. Gin, wine, champagne and craft beer pop-up bars will be set up throughout the Food Hall amongst a selection of tempting food stalls.

Fenwick will also welcome top chefs associated with the North for exclusive Great Northern Supper Clubs – a sure-fire hit with the region’s fine food lovers. Organised by much celebrated chef and restaurateur Terry Laybourne of 21 Hospitality and taking place in Saltwater Fish Company, prominent guest chefs including Kenny Atkinson (House of Tides),  Nigel Haworth (Northcote), Shaun Rankin (Ormer Mayfair) and Maunika Gowardhan (Indian chef and food writer), will share insights and anecdotes while cooking for an intimate audience.

Rhys McKinnell, Director of Restaurants at Fenwick said: “The Great Exhibition of the North is set to epitomise all that is pioneering and outstanding about the region, so we are excited to join in the celebrations. The successful launch of our Food Hall in 2015 has seen us go from strength-to-strength with our retail offering and dining experience, and has provided a fantastic platform for a number of local and regional brands to build their name.

“Our customers see Fenwick as being synonymous with quality produce and our summer-long showcase will bring together all that our food and drink scene has to be proud of, so an opportunity to taste your way through the North is not to be missed.”

Highlights of the events programme:
