Father John Misty announces UK tour for May 2016 including Sage Gateshead performance

With his sold-out UK tour beginning in Sheffield tonight, FATHER JOHN MISTY has announced news of a further run of live performances for May next year, including a date at Sage Gateshead on Saturday 14 May. Tickets go on sale Friday 30 October.
It will be hard to come across an Albums of 2015 list that does not include Father John Misty’s sophomore album I Love You, Honeybear. Father John Misty, also known as Josh Tillman, wrote and recorded the album in his hometown of Los Angeles, with his recent marriage the focus point for the record. A love story of sorts, each of the ten songs tells the story of a man battling his own past to reconcile his future, talking of ex-lovers, regrets, fears and the terrifying force of love.
With eight solo records under the name J. Tillman, he joined Fleet Foxes as drummer before releasing his debut album as Father John Misty in 2012, Fear Fun. Then in 2015, with the release of Honeybear, Father John Misty exploded onto the scene. An outstanding performance on Letterman of Bored in the USA showed the world that Tillman is a natural born performer, oozing with arrogance and charisma.
As a live outfit, Father John Misty tours with a six-piece band, all of whom are equally well cropped and sharply suited. Meaning that songs like The Ideal Husband, I’m Writing a Novel and title track, I Love You, Honeybear get the treatment they deserve, sounding as big live as they do on record. It also gives Tillman the freedom to entertain, diving around the stage, ensuring he has the audience in the palm of his hand.
