Family Fun at the Tyne Theatre & Opera House this Summer

The Tyne Theatre & Opera House is hosting many family-friendly shows to keep the little ones busy during the summer holidays. From Dinosaur Adventure Live on Tuesday 1st August 2023 to In The Night Garden Live on Saturday 26th – Sunday 27th August 2023, the summer holidays have never seemed more exciting! Tales from Acorn Wood is also performing between Tuesday 26th – Wednesday 27th September 2023 so that the magic doesn’t end once school starts.
Dinosaur Adventure Live will be a roar-some time for children of all ages, with interactive elements, Dino-facts and meet and greets! After 65 million years in the making, children can come face-to-face with dinosaurs. Just don’t come too close because they could be on the menu! Families will join one of the brave rangers on a quest to recover a data crystal to power the dinosaur-filled island. Without the crystal, the dinosaurs could be in danger. Will you help save them? For the young in bodies and in spirit, Dinosaur Adventure Live is fun for all the family. After all, who doesn’t love dinosaurs? Dinosaur Adventure Live will be playing on Tuesday 1st August.
For children who want to see their favourite characters coming to life, the highly successful In The Night Garden Live is returning to the Tyne Theatre & Opera House across Saturday 26th – Sunday 27th August. The smash-hit show brings Igglepiggle, Upsy Daisy, Makka Pakka and friends to life as we explore ‘Igglepiggle’s Busy Day’. The CBeebies classic will also feature the amazing flying Pinky Ponk who will soar over the heads of the audience! Seen by over 1.2 million people, the critically acclaimed production has established itself as a must-see theatre experience.
After the success of popular adaptations Zog, The Gruffalo’s Child and Stick Man, Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s Tales from Acorn Wood is bounding to the stage. Packed with toe-tapping songs and puppetry, this show will be perfect for little ones adventuring to their first theatre show. In an enchanting life-the-flap experience, fans can expect to find Fox’s socks, join Pig and Hen’s hide-and-seek and discover the surprise that Postman Bear is planning. Based on the favourite stories of the series, Tales from Acorn Wood is perfect for an after-school or after-nursery treat, with times from 16:30, 10:30 and 13:30 between Wednesday 26th – Thursday 27th September.
Theatre Director Jo Johnson commented: “Our line-up of family-friendly shows keeps growing every year! We are sure that parents won’t be stuck this summer as our selection is bound to excite children, from kids who want to meet dinosaurs to little ones who can see their favourite TV and book characters come to life.”
