Fairy tale weddings brought to life at Blackfriars
Brides-to-be dreaming of a fairytale wedding are invited to a special wedding event at Blackfriars this month.
Blackfriars Wedding Fayre will take place in the medieval Banquet Hall on Sunday February 23 giving couples the chance to experience the same venue that was enjoyed by kings and nobles including King Edward III in medieval times.
The banquet hall offers a magical backdrop for intimate wedding ceremonies or receptions. Although based in the centre of Newcastle, guests can also enjoy the picturesque enclosed garden area for pre-reception Champagne and canapés and wedding photos.
As well as the 50-seat Banquet Hall, guests also have the option of dining at Blackfriars Restaurant, which received the Taste of England accolade at the North East England Tourism Awards last year.
The event will take place from 12-3pm and admission is free. Visitors will also be treated to complimentary Champagne and canapés to sample the food on offer at Blackfriars. Couples wishing to register their interest should contact Lee McKinnell, wedding co-ordinator at Blackfriars at [email protected] or by ringing 0191 261 5945.
Andy Hook, owner of Blackfriars, said: “We offer brides and grooms a truly unique setting in which to celebrate their big day in the heart of the city and we hope our Wedding Fayre will showcase all we have to offer. We have seen the number of weddings triple over the last couple of years and are delighted that this special venue is helping couples to achieve their fairytale weddings”.
