Enjoy the sunshine in the finest Al Fresco dining areas in NE1

As the sun splits the skies in Costa-Del-Newcastle, what better way to wile away the hours in the sun than to take in some food and drink in some of the finest outdoor dining spaces the city has to offer?
We've put together this list in case you're struggling for inspiration, but there are fine outdoor areas spread throughout the city as well as these, so if you're in the mood for an explore you're sure to find a gem amongst Newcastle's burgeoning restaurant scene.
Riley's Fish Shack
The newest addition to the Quayside, and the Vueling Quayside Seaside, Riley's Fish Shack have repurposed shipping containers to provide this amazing pop-up restaurant for the summer. Serving such tasty morsels as Red Mullet, Mackerel Wraps, Craster Kippers and Flat Iron Steak, this is seriously stylish seafood, with a selection of seating areas situated perfectly between the Millennium and Tyne bridges.
Jamie's Italian
Jamie's outdoor dining area is right in the heart of the city, adjacent to Grey’s Monument – the perfect spot for people watching whilst you indulge in the Italian delights before browsing the rest of the city centre.
Las Iguanas (Quayside and Grey Street)
We are spoilt for choice with Las Iguanas in Newcastle! Both Quayside and Grey Street are decorated with funky bright colours; this sun combined with their amazing food will make you feel like you really are in South America!
The Bridge Tavern
Under the shadow of the Tyne Bridge, this Gastro Pub doesn't look like it would open out into an amazing inside-outside mezzanine upstairs, but it does, and it's a fabulous spot to enjoy a few after-work drinks, or sample their extensive Menu of surprising morsels including Sharing Planks, North Sea Crab on Toast or Beer Battered Haddock, delicious!
Gusto
In warm weather, this up-market eatery fills with hungry hordes populating its outdoor area at the drop of a hat. Not only is the food fantastic, but the location is hard to beat. Spacious and inviting, with views of the bridges, this is perfect for some mid-afternoon relaxing and dining.
Pitcher & Piano
Enjoying some Al Fresco dining (and a cocktail or two) with views of Newcastle’s beautiful Quayside, and the Millennium Bridge looming over you – what’s not to like? Once finished, the Vueling Quayside Seaside is just next door if you want to catch some serious rays… just saying!
Barluga
This staple of Grey Street was already swanky enough, but this summer they've added a mighty impressive outdoor area, ideal for relaxing during the occasional heatwave and enjoying some great food and drinks.
Browns
Bask in the sun and sit and watch the world go by on one of Britain’s finest Streets at Browns. Try refusing one of their cocktails or their Afternoon Tea if you're feeling extra-summery – we think it’s impossible.
Paradiso
A slice of Italy tucked away, just off Pilgrim Street, not only is the indoor area a wonderfully intimate space to enjoy fantastic Italian delicacies, but the outdoor area is a bona fide sun trap! Whenever the sun emerges from the sky, this is high on the hit-list, with the adjoining terrace of Alvinos Cocktail Bar providing a regular next destination if the clouds stay away!
