Enjoy a Real Life Hoedown at The Hoppings…

Europe’s largest travelling fair will be bringing a touch of Texas to Tyneside this month with a packed line up of live music.

The Hoppings is returning to Newcastle Town Moor on Friday 19 June for 10 days of rides, attractions and entertainment.

And once again it is showcasing the best regional musical talent at its Live Lounge –this year, with a little country twist.

Located in the Feast Street food village – which also has a Country USA theme this year - the Live Lounge will feature performances from some of the region’s most established and rising music stars.

A changing, daily programme of entertainment will include sets from vocalists and musicians covering every genre from rock and country to soul and pop.

And each Saturday the line-up will open with a Newcastle to Nashville Country Music performance, from 4pm to 5pm.

Among the performers taking to the Live Lounge stage this year – each evening from 5pm with Sunday’s line up starting at 4pm - is award-winning line dancing singer Trey Jackson.

Singers Sam Rea, singer guitarist David Stoker and musician and vocalist Andrew Usher are returning to Live Lounge after wowing audiences last year.

And other names to look out for include Sarah Connolly, Connor Haley, Peter Todd, Martin Marriott, Matty Fenny, Annis Rallis, Kieran Hooper and Liam Cross.

There will also be live music from the Jam Junkies Band and the Big Bash band along with the Lewis Curry Trio and the Tim Gambles Trio.

Feast Street – which showcases some of the region’s best loved restaurants and street food pop ups - will also have a country flavour this year with the new name of Feast Street USA.

New offerings will include Primal Feast - an American style barbecue featuring brisket along with burgers and steaks – along with Diamond Dogs, Chicken Ting, Sully’s Slices, Outlaw loaded fries and Davey’s Smash Burger.

But Ryan Crow of Crow Events, which organises The Hoppings, said Live Lounge “will, as always, appeal to all musical tastes."

“We always aim to make sure every visitor has the best possible time – whether they’re coming for the rides, something to eat, to hear the music or just to soak up the unique atmosphere of the Hoppings,” he said.

There will also be character meet-and-greet performances on both the opening and closing weekends – from 1pm to 4pm on 20, 21, 27 and 28 June - featuring much loved princesses and cartoon characters.
