Dr. Martens Goes Back To School

WHILE summer holidays are in full swing, the latest Back to School collection from footwear and clothing brand Dr. Martens has landed in Newcastle. Part of the AW14 kids’ range, the unisex styles mimic the adult collections on offer, retaining the classic attributes and original brand silhouette but with carefully considered attention to detail with both parents and children in mind. Amy Nelson, Dr. Martens UK retail marketing manager, said: “We’ve opted for versatility and comfort as the key design factors for this year’s Back to School collection. “Our current #STANDFORSOMETHING campaign is all about standing up for what you believe in and celebrating standing out. We hope this is a strong message that will resonate with today’s parents, and children will come to identify with as they grow up – not being afraid to express their individuality.” Boasting a variety of options in soft patent and matte smooth leather, the Back to School shoes and boots allow fans who have grown up with the brand to pass on their style associations to their children and encourage them to represent #STANDFORSOMETHING in their own way. Durable leather combined with a sturdy sole make for a classic long-lasting school shoe and in choosing to remove the traditional yellow stitch and fabric heel tab on a number of styles – including children’s favourites Mary Jane styles Maccy and Tully – schools with and without strict uniform codes are catered for. The hugely popular Dr. Martens boot has also been redesigned with smaller feet in mind, now sporting a side zip in the form of Brooklee, and Velcro features on the Jerry and Sammy shoes for those still to master the art of tying laces. The AW14 kids’ range is available in Crib (size 0-3), Infants (3-9) and Juniors (10-2) in-store now at Dr. Martens Newcastle on Grainger Street.
