Date for the Diary: Fenwick Newcastle Christmas Window Reveal
Fenwick Newcastle has announced its famous Christmas window display will be unveiled on Friday 1st November at 5pm, with build-up starting from 3.30pm.
A key date in the festive calendar, around 2,000 people are expected to gather in excitement on Northumberland Street for the official reveal of this year’s animated Christmas window, surrounded by an evening of entertainment.
As the region waits in anticipation, this year’s window scenes are transported from Berlin to Newcastle before a team of technicians, animators and window dressers spend over five days installing the magical creations.
The complex and detailed creative process takes up to 3,500 hours and involves elaborate storyboards designed in collaboration with German company One World Studio, which specialises in creating displays all around the world.
Last year’s popular display ‘We’re Walking in the Air’ was inspired by the much-adored children’s picture book The Snowman by renowned author and illustrator Raymond Briggs and created in conjunction with Penguin Ventures, part of Penguin Random House.
Fenwick Newcastle recently announced its ‘Santa on the Rooftop’ experience and pop-up festive cinema return this year plus all-new, Santa’s Breakfast Club and Santa’s Supper Club experiences. In addition to this, a 12,000 square foot area on the Lower Ground Floor has been transformed into a winter wonderland, filled with Christmas delights from must-have decorations to an exclusive range of gifts. Visitors to the store can also find the Christmas pop-up café - ‘Fantastic & Delicious’ situated within the Christmas department.
