Date for the Diary: Fenwick Newcastle Christmas Window Reveal

Fenwick Newcastle has announced when its famous Christmas window display will be unveiled surrounded by an evening of entertainment.

A pinnacle date in the festive calendar, around 2,000 people are expected to gather in excitement on Northumberland Street next Friday for the official reveal of this year’s animated Christmas window.

As the North East waits in anticipation, the amazing scenes are transported from Berlin to Newcastle before a team of technicians, animators and window dressers spend over five days installing the magical creations.

The complex and detailed creative process takes up to 3,500 hours and involves elaborate storyboards designed in collaboration with German company One World Studio, which specialises in creating displays all around the world.

Last year’s display ‘Love From Paddington’ saw the beloved bear Paddington come to life in a series of classic scenes from the late Michael Bond’s best-selling books with Beatrix Potter’s fabled characters being portrayed back in 2016’s window.

Fenwick Newcastle has added an extra sparkle to Christmas this year, taking things to new heights with its Santa on the Rooftop experience and pop-up festive cinema. In addition to this a 12,000 square foot area on the Lower Ground has been transformed into a winter wonderland, filled with every Christmas treat imaginable from must-have decorations to an exclusive range of gifts.

This year, the launch of the Christmas window will take place on Friday 2 November at 5pm prompt, revealing the festive display just after nightfall, with build-up from 3.30pm.
