Christmas Magic Is Coming to Eldon Square with an Unmissable Weekend Event
Christmas is coming to Eldon Square, with a spectacular weekend of free festive fun set to transform the centre on Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th November.
Across two magical days, visitors can meet Santa and his Elves, spot the Naughty Grinch causing mischief around the malls, test whether they are naughty or nice on Eldon Square’s very own Good-ometer, and enjoy an exciting line-up of roaming entertainment and family activities.
Taking centre stage will be internationally acclaimed, illuminated drumming troupe, Spark! Bringing an unforgettable fusion of live music, light and movement to the centre, the dazzling performers will take to the malls at 11am, 1pm and 3pm on both days.
Santa and his Elves will also make a special stop at Eldon Square, inviting families to enjoy a free meet and greet outside NEXT on St Andrew’s Way. Public sessions will run from 11am–1pm and 1.30pm–5pm each day, with no booking required and plenty of chances to capture a festive family photo.
Free Quiet Santa sessions will take place ahead of the main public meet and greets, offering a calmer environment for children who may prefer it. These sessions must be booked in advance, while an accessibility queue will also be available during the public sessions.
There will be plenty of festive mischief elsewhere in the centre, as the Naughty Grinch roams the malls throughout the weekend alongside Santa’s Elves and towering festive stilt walkers.
Visitors can put their Christmas behaviour to the test on the Good-ometer, while the Christmas Claw Grabber will offer the chance to win brilliant prizes, including a £50 Eldon Square Gift Card, a meal for two at The Alchemist and FREE jewellery from Nominations Italy.
The festive fun will continue in the Community Quarter, where Christmas face painting will be available from 11am–4pm each day in return for a donation to the Newcastle United Foundation and Tyneside and Northumberland Mind. All money raised throughout the event will be split equally between the two charities, supporting their work in the local community.
Helen Cowie, Centre Director at Eldon Square, said: “There is nothing quite like the excitement of Christmas arriving in the city, and we cannot wait to welcome families to Eldon Square for a weekend packed with festive fun.
“From meeting Santa and watching the incredible Spark! performers, to spotting the Naughty Grinch and enjoying all the little surprises happening across the centre, there will be something for everyone to enjoy.
“We wanted to create a brilliant free day out for families in the heart of Newcastle and make sure as many visitors as possible can take part through Quiet Santa sessions and accessibility support. It is the perfect way to kick-start the Christmas countdown.”
Visitors can make a full festive day of it, combining the weekend’s entertainment with Christmas shopping across Eldon Square’s 100+ retailers. From finding gifts at John Lewis & Partners, Fenwick, Sephora, Apple and NEXT, to enjoying a festive bite or drink at one of the centre’s many food and drink destinations, there are plenty of ways to keep the celebrations going.
